2012 Chevrolet Tahoe – Drive Time Review with Steve Hammes

Drive Time review of the 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD LTZ by auto critic Steve Hammes.

The Classical Period

From roughly 1750 to 1820, artists, architechts, and musicians moved away from the heavily ornamented styles of the Baroque and the Rococo, and instead embraced a clean, uncluttered style they thought reminiscent of Classical Greece.

The Classical Period

Classicism implies the ideals of the Apollonian cult of ancient Greece: objectivity, ethos, emotional restraint, and balance and clarity of form. In music was reflected on the development of the musical forms and the homophonic texture.

The Classical period (5th – 4th century BC)

In the early 5th century Greek artists began consciously to attempt to render human and animal forms realistically. This entailed careful observation of the model as well as understanding the mechanics of anatomy – how a body adjusts to a pose which is not stiffly frontal but with the weight shifted to one side of the body, and how a body behaves in violent motion.

Classicism and music

We can say that scholarly music of the time often incorporates popular dances (jig, chaconne, minuet, etc.). New instruments are invented and others disappeared (lute, harpsichord, viola da gamba, etc.). First mentions of different systems of equal temperament which make it possible to compose in all the tones of the nascent harmony (progressive abandonment of the ecclesiastical modes).
